About the Fund
Roger Rees was MasterVoices’ beloved Artistic Associate from 2002 – 2015. The world knew him best as an actor, with countless appearances on stage, film, and television. But we knew him best as a visionary, whose brilliant mind and unflagging passion led us all to new heights.
In love with language, Roger dreamt up new ways to connect music and the human voice. At the encouragement of maestro Robert Bass, he set our sights beyond conventional choral music. He made dramatic text and musical theater a regular part of the MasterVoices season.
This Fund will support the kind of work that Roger loved, and inspired. Work that celebrates language and story. Work of high theatricality, born of deep collaboration. Work that features our incredible chorus, and spectacular soloists. Work that will delight you, with lush and intriguing repertoire you will hear nowhere else.
Please join us as we make these singular experiences possible, under the baton of our Tony Award-winning Artistic Director Ted Sperling. On behalf of our artists, our audiences, and the enduring legacy of Roger Rees, we thank you.
