MasterVoices | Orchestra of St. Luke's | Ted Sperling, Conductor

This program is dedicated to the memory of beloved MasterVoices’ Board Member James S. Marcus.

Dido and Aeneas tells the story of the widowed Queen of Carthage and the war hero Aeneas, two ill-fated lovers driven apart by a devious Sorceress. MasterVoices (formerly The Collegiate Chorale) brings this tempestuous Baroque opera by Henry Purcell, and a world premiere prologue composed by Michael John LaChiusa (The Wild Party) to spellbinding life. Don’t miss this unique production, with a cast hailing from both the Broadway and opera worlds (Kelli O’Hara, Victoria Clark, Elliot Madore, Anna Christy, and Sarah Mesko), the singers of MasterVoices, Orchestra of St. Luke’s, Doug Varone and Dancers, and Conductor Ted Sperling.

Direction and Choreography by Doug Varone, Scenic Consulting by David Korins, and gowns provided by Christian Siriano.
