Introducing The MasterVoices Podcast!

Sometimes the story behind the show is as riveting as the show itself. That’s why we’re launching The MasterVoices Podcast! We’ll be inviting a diverse range of masterful voices to explore subjects ranging from music and language to history and culture.

First out of the gate is a three-episode miniseries on STRIKE UP THE BAND – each exploring a different facet of the show. Our host is linguist John McWhorter, known to many as the host of the popular Lexicon Valley podcast and from his weekly newsletter for The New York Times, where he writes about how race and language shape our politics and culture. As perhaps fewer people know, he is also a musical theater and serious aficionado!

Starting Tuesday, we’ll be rolling out one episode per week for the next three weeks. Content includes interviews with Ted Sperling and Laurence Maslon on the making of the script, conductor and author John Mauceri on operetta’s profound influence on the Gershwin’s score and lyrics, and cartoonist and editor Bob Mankoff on where Kaufman’s brand of satire lives in the larger scheme of comedy.

Stay tuned for the first episode drop next Tuesday – after that you’ll find us on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts!
