Since 1999, the Complimentary Ticket Program has brought hundreds of students from New York schools and community programs to MasterVoices’ concert programs each season. These complimentary tickets allow many students to attend a musical performance at a major venue such as Carnegie Hall for the first time in their lives.
In addition, MasterVoices is committed to distributing approximately 300 free tickets every season to a diverse range of seniors in New York City. MasterVoices has partnered with multiple organizations that provide services for seniors to distribute tickets to those who otherwise would not have access to nor be able to afford concerts at such a high level of excellence.
Senior Center Coordinator reaction to MasterVoices performance of Gilbert and Sullivan’s Iolanthe at Carnegie Hall in 2023:
MasterVoices did it again! A superb production – great voices, dancing, fun dialogue and acting – all woven together delightfully! So many of the members came grinning to me during intermission to tell me how much they were enjoying it.
Thank you again for making it possible for us.
Senior Center Volunteer Coordinator reaction to MasterVoices’ ticket program:
“Your performances have always been among the highlights of the season for our seniors (and our volunteer staff!), and we always have appreciated your generosity!”
Student reactions to MasterVoices’s performance of Boito’s Mefistofele at Carnegie Hall in 2013:
“It made my heart beat fast, making my pulse jump to the sound of the music.”
“It was very different from what I am used to, but I adored it. Thank you for introducing me to something I now enjoy.”
High school teacher reaction to MasterVoices’ performance of Ricky Ian Gordon’s new opera 27 at New York City Center in 2016:
“What a spectacular night at the opera! The kids loved it! Afterwards we had a rousing conversation about the Holocaust and the symbolism of Gertrude Stein being “framed” (both literally and figuratively) and the artists in her world. Thank you for including our students in yet another genius performance!”
