Join us for Orphic Moments for a stunning exploration of the Orpheus myth you know, from a viewpoint you’ve never seen before.

Here are the players – dancer, violin, and countertenor – you’ll meet in the Aucoin portion…

Five Words That Critics Have Used to Describe Him: sweet, remarkable, finger-busting virtuosity

Six Degrees of MasterVoices: Keir has worked extensively with composer/conductor Tan Dun, with whom MasterVoices also worked as part of the 2012 Lincoln Center Out of Doors Festival.

Fun Fact: Keir was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and his name means “dusky” in Gaelic. He studied literature at Harvard University and was awarded the Louis Sudler Prize in the Arts.

BOBBI JENE SMITH

Four Things You Might Have Seen Her In: SLEEP NO MORE (McKittrick Hotel) • A STUDY ON EFFORT (COIL Festival, PS122) • a decade of work with the BATSHEVA DANCE COMPANY (Israel, international tour) • BOBBI JENE, feature documentary by Elivra Lind (Tribeca Film Festival, 2017).

Five Words That Critics Have Used to Describe Her: Hypnotic, chilling, sensuous, thrilling, raw

Six Degrees of MasterVoices: In 2010, Zubin Mehta and The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra performed a special concert of Stravinksy’s PETRUSHKA with dancers from Batsheva… Two years earlier, MasterVoices made its debut with Mehta and the IPO – a close partnership that continues to this day!

Fun Fact: Smith choreographed the famous “lighthouse” sequence in ANNIHILATION (2018, Paramount Pictures), danced by Natalie Portman and Sonoya Mizuno.
