Join us on March 7th, as Artistic Director Ted Sperling and the MasterVoices Chorus fill The Great Hall of The Cooper Union with the sounds of Our America – an evening of song dedicated to the myriad cultures that influence what we hear, what we hum, and the heritage we hold dear.
The program will range from gospel spirituals and tunes by Irving Berlin (Russia), Victor Herbert (Ireland), and Aaron Copland (Lithuania) to contemporary works by Randall Eng (China), Daniel Rein (Israel), and others from the Middle East and South America. Mikaela Bennett (Canada) and Justin Austin (Germany) will also be part of the program.
In preparation for our upcoming program Our America, we’ve been gathering stories from the MasterVoices family and we want to hear yours, too. Scroll down to the comments section below, and tell us what you consider your heritage to be!
As we receive answers we’ll keep building on our Heritage Word Cloud, which represents our singers, supporters, and music-makers. Every ten days we’ll send our an e-blast (join our list!) with the latest word cloud along with some of the stories people have shared with us. The final result will be displayed in the lobby of The Great Hall on March 7th. Join us!
